Eclipse Energy produces hydrogen at ~0.35 kg CO₂/kg H₂, among the lowest in the industry, while requiring no potable water.

Our approach addresses both carbon and water constraints typical of conventional hydrogen production.

The Science

Eclipse Energy’s approach turns uneconomic oil reservoirs into clean energy assets. Using existing water injection infrastructure, our microbial processes permeate the reservoir, converting residual and immovable hydrocarbons into a hydrogen-rich stream.

Produced through current wells, water is reinjected while hydrogen is captured and delivered as clean molecules or clean electrons. We’ve built a scalable, low-carbon pathway grounded in rigorous subsurface science.

Eclipse Energy harnesses natural microbial pathways to produce hydrogen, bridging cutting-edge biology with proven oil and gas expertise.

Engineering

From microbial optimization to field deployment, our technology process is engineered to identify optimal zones and map reservoir flows, ensuring efficient, scalable deployment and delivering the maximum product for each unique well. 

Geoscience

We characterize subsurface formations to identify, model, and optimize reservoirs for sustainable microbial hydrogen production.
